The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has called on President Bola Tinubu’s administration to take decisive actions to address the country’s socioeconomic and political challenges, rather than merely making promises.

Following a four-day special retreat in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, PFN emphasized the urgent need for tangible commitment to policy implementation amid worsening security issues and economic instability marked by high inflation and rising living costs.

Bishop David Bakare, PFN’s National Secretary, highlighted the importance of divine intervention while stressing that leadership must also act decisively. “Our perspective at PFN is that Nigeria needs divine intervention… However, prayers must be accompanied by decisive action from leadership,” he stated.

Bakare acknowledged the administration’s efforts, such as the approval of forest guards and plans to enhance border security through technology. However, he insisted that these initiatives require visible commitment and execution to restore public trust and stimulate economic recovery.

He warned that high unemployment rates contribute significantly to insecurity and called for strategic investments in job creation. “When people are engaged meaningfully, there will be fewer idle hands to recruit into criminal activities,” Bakare noted.

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, who attended the retreat, praised PFN President Bishop Wale Oke for his constructive engagement with the government and solicited prayer support for his administration.

The retreat served as a platform to align the national leadership of PFN with the President’s vision and to foster collaboration within the organization. Over 90% of national executives participated, reflecting strong commitment to the fellowship’s mission.

Bakare concluded that ongoing prayers and visible government action are essential for Nigeria’s improvement, emphasizing the collective responsibility of leaders to work for the nation’s betterment.
