A former worship pastor from Michigan has admitted to several serious charges after secretly installing a camera in a staff bathroom at his church. William Johnson, 38, pleaded guilty on April 14, 2024, to 15 felony charges, including child sexually abusive activity, unlawful surveillance, and computer-related crimes. His sentencing is scheduled for May 22, 2024, where he could face up to 20 years in prison.

Johnson had served as a pastor at 2|42 Community Church in Brighton, Michigan. The hidden camera was discovered by a staff member last year in a bathroom used only by church employees and volunteers. Following the discovery, Johnson confessed to placing the camera intermittently for two years to target specific individuals.

In a heartfelt message to the congregation, church leader Craig Ryan expressed deep sorrow, calling the incident a violation of the entire church community: “We consider this a violation against our entire church.”

Johnson was dismissed from his pastoral role in September 2024 and remains in custody at Livingston County Jail, with a bond set at $250,000.
