The Rt. Rev. James Odedeji, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Lagos West, passionately encouraged women to strengthen their prayer lives and family altars during a rededication service held on January 26, 2025, at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Cathedral Church in Ikeja, Lagos.
With the theme “Be A Beacon of Light,” the event prompted Bishop Odedeji, represented by Ven. Ebenezer Adewole, to emphasize the importance of maintaining a vibrant prayer life. He stated, “A life dedicated to God through prayer is essential for true fellowship with Him. No matter the circumstances, let nothing diminish your commitment to prayer. Your family altar must be alive and active, nurturing both personal and collective devotion.”
He urged the women to embrace a spirit of generosity, reflecting God’s giving nature. “Learn to be generous and a blessing to those around you. Promote good works in your community,” he advised.
Bishop Odedeji also encouraged the women to let go of past grievances and start the year with renewed hope and opportunities. “The past year is behind us. Embrace fresh beginnings in God’s vineyard. Our sole focus should be on loving God and fulfilling His will. When our families love God, we will experience peace and harmony.”
In his message, he highlighted the importance of forgiveness, stating, “Always be willing to forgive those who wrong you. Harboring grudges can block God’s blessings and peace in your life. Remember, Christianity is not about convenience but commitment.”
Bishop Odedeji concluded with a heartfelt call to commitment in faith, reminding all attendees that true devotion to God’s Word is the pathway to pleasing Him and enjoying the fullness of His blessings.
