The Adamawa Christian community is in distress following the abduction of Rev. James Kwayang, a resident pastor of the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria (Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa A Nigeria – EYN), and his secretary, Rev. Ishaku Chiwar, in Adamawa state.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Adamawa State Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident to BVN. He stated that law enforcement has mobilized personnel to ensure the safe return of the two clergymen, who were taken from their local church council in Mbila-Malibu around 11 PM on Sunday in the Song local government area.

EYN President Rev. Daniel Mbaya also acknowledged the abduction and urged security forces to act swiftly for the clergymen’s safe release. He called upon fellow religious leaders, the entire EYN congregation, and all Nigerians to join in fervent prayers for the pastors’ safe return.

“We urge all Nigerians and the EYN community to pray for the swift release of these men of God, for comfort and strength for their families, and for wisdom and effectiveness for the security personnel involved in their rescue,” he said. “This incident has deeply shaken the EYN community, and we appreciate your prayers and support during this challenging time.”

As of now, the identities of the abductors remain unknown, and no communication has been established with the church or the families of the victims. The situation underscores the ongoing challenges faced by religious leaders in the region, and the need for unity and prayer among believers.
