The Catholic Bishop of Ondo Diocese, Most Rev. Jude Arogundade, has called for increased dialogue among Nigerians to address the rising insecurity and killings across the country. Speaking during the celebration of the 59th World Day of Social Communications at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Akure, Arogundade emphasized the importance of unity and open conversation among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups.

He stated that sustained dialogue is essential for tackling the nation’s worsening security situation, urging that it should be a continuous and educative process. Arogundade expressed concern over the inability of citizens to engage freely in their daily activities, particularly in rural areas, where fear prevails.

The bishop lamented that many people can no longer access their farms or carry out their daily routines safely. He stressed the need for Nigerians to unite and collaboratively build a nation that everyone can be proud of, highlighting that dialogue is crucial to this endeavor.

Arogundade also identified corruption as a significant barrier to national development and urged journalists to actively participate in the fight against it. He called on the media to initiate and sustain national conversations, advocating for a culture of love, integrity, and responsibility.

He concluded that if corruption is significantly reduced, Nigeria could experience a remarkable transformation, fueled by the energy and intelligence of its youth.
