On Thursday, the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) hosted a Bible quiz competition for primary schools in Lagos, aimed at fostering a love for scripture among young learners. Salem Baptist International School emerged victorious, with representatives Muritala Desmond and Taiwo Ewaoluwa defeating five other finalists to claim first place.

Graine Royal School and Angels on Mission took home the first and second runner-up positions, respectively, while God’s Glory Abide Nursery and Primary School, Tane Crescent, and De-future Hope School completed the rankings.

Ewaoluwa expressed her joy at the achievement and thanked the BSN for providing the platform to showcase their biblical knowledge.

During the event, held at the Salvation Army Igbobi Corps in Onipanu, Lagos, Mr. Samuel Sanusi, the BSN’s General Secretary, highlighted the competition’s purpose: to revive godly values among children amidst prevalent moral challenges. He emphasized the importance of scripture in guiding young lives.

Seventeen primary schools participated in the preliminary rounds, with questions sourced from the BSN’s book “My 100 Best Loved Bible Stories.” Sanusi called for support from the community to enhance the competition and increase rewards for the participants.

The BSN, a key player in translating the Bible into over 29 local Nigerian languages, continues to promote biblical literacy as a means of moral and spiritual development for Nigerian children.
