Pastor Paul Adefarasin, the Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, has spoken out in response to a viral video that accused him of pointing a firearm at a content creator. Addressing the matter during Sunday’s sermon, Pastor Adefarasin strongly refuted the claims, stating that he does not own a gun, does not have a license for one, and has never pointed a firearm at anyone.
He explained that the situation had been exaggerated by online content creators who were simply attempting to drive traffic and generate income from controversy. According to him, the content was produced with the intention of sensationalism and not truth, taking advantage of people’s emotions to go viral.
Pastor Adefarasin revealed that the incident occurred when a content creator came unusually close to him, separated only by a glass wall and less than a meter of space. Despite the intensity of the encounter, he maintained that he did not act aggressively, nor did he possess or handle any weapon.
He described the experience as shocking and hurtful, particularly because it unfolded on a Saturday—a day he often reserves for Sabbath rest and reflection. He shared that several people reached out to him with concern after the video went viral, but he remained calm, rooted in his faith, and reminded himself that God is fully in control of all situations.
He emphasized that House on the Rock does not respond to hate speech or false accusations with hostility, nor does the church believe in dignifying slander. Instead, the church relies on the truth of God’s Word and the assurance that justice ultimately belongs to God. He referenced Romans 12:19, which teaches believers to leave room for God’s judgment, rather than seeking personal retaliation.
Pastor Adefarasin acknowledged the emotional toll of being falsely accused but also testified that God uses every trial for His greater purpose. While the incident was clearly aimed at tarnishing his image, he chose to respond with forgiveness, clarity, and faith.
He concluded by stating that the matter is now behind him and should be considered settled. He urged members of the church and the broader Christian community to remain discerning in the digital age, where misinformation can spread quickly, and to stand firm in the truth of the gospel.
