The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Sabon Gari Local Government chapter in Zaria, Kaduna State, has called for the inclusion of Christians in Hisbah activities to strengthen community harmony and promote effective social reform.
Speaking at a workshop organised by the Hisbah Board on Monday, Pastor Nuhu Sani, Secretary of the local CAN chapter, emphasized that social vices affect both Christians and Muslims alike and called for a collaborative approach to tackling them. He noted that including Christians in Hisbah operations would enhance trust, unity, and the overall moral reorientation drive in the society.
“Crimes are not limited to one religion. To clean up society, we need to work together, as we all live in the same community and face the same challenges,” Pastor Sani said.
In response, the Hisbah Commandant, Awwal Abubakar Adam, said the board has continued to work with relevant security agencies and disclosed that over 150 unlicensed liquor joints and illegal lodgings have recently been shut down.
Representatives from various security agencies present at the event pledged their support for Hisbah’s mission and welcomed the call for inclusive community engagement to uphold moral standards and public order.
