Pastor Dr. Olaniran Fafowora, a U.S.-based pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has raised significant concerns regarding Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s remarks about the City of David Parish and its Trinity Tower. He contends that the parish has never been a tenant on the land, contrary to what was suggested by Adeboye.
In a recent broadcast on TheOpenPulpit channel, Fafowora criticized the church’s decision to expedite repayment of a loan from Access Bank used for the Trinity Tower’s construction. He argued that adhering to the original ten-year payment plan would have been more prudent, especially since the tower operates as a business entity.
Fafowora also reflected on the history of the Apapa family within the RCCG, sharing insights from discussions with Pastor Dotun Kukoyi about the family’s evolution. He noted that the original spiritual essence of the Apapa family diminished as it became more financially driven. He expressed that Adeboye’s second visit to City of David marked a turning point, symbolically renaming the family to the “Favoured Family,” which he viewed as a burial of its true spiritual legacy.
He emphasized that the church’s focus should be on saving souls rather than accumulating material wealth. The decision to allocate vast sums for the building, rather than benefiting congregants, struck him as misguided, particularly in light of the current economic climate.
Fafowora called for open dialogue regarding the Trinity Tower and urged the church to recognize contributions appropriately while addressing any lingering uncertainties. He advocates for a more compassionate approach to church leadership, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing community needs over ambitious expansion goals.
