Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has issued a passionate call to Christians to reject pride and pursue lives marked by humility and honesty.

Preaching during a recent YouTube-streamed sermon, Pastor Kumuyi taught that pride is not just a personal flaw—it is a spiritual barrier that draws people away from the presence of God, regardless of their religious appearance or service.

He explained that the attitude of self-importance and spiritual arrogance can silently separate believers from true fellowship with God. He highlighted common expressions such as “I am who I am” or “No one can teach me the Bible” as symptoms of pride that ultimately lead to a fall.

According to him, many believers focus on external signs of devotion—church attendance, Scripture reading, and sacrificial giving—while neglecting the inner virtues of humility and honesty that God truly values.

Referencing Micah 6:8, Pastor Kumuyi reminded Christians that the Lord requires His children to “do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.”

Using the example of King Nebuchadnezzar from Scripture, he warned that pride always ends in humiliation. Unlike Nebuchadnezzar, whose wisdom and wealth were unmatched, many today have no such greatness to boast of—yet still walk in pride in their sin, weaknesses, and ignorance.

Pastor Kumuyi emphasized that humility is not optional in the life of a believer. Without it, he said, even the most spiritual-looking person risks wasting their life.

He concluded by saying that to truly belong to the family of God, a Christian must possess both humility and honesty—two non-negotiables in the journey of faith.
