Bishop T.D. Jakes has officially stepped down as the senior pastor of the Potter’s House in Dallas, a role he held for 30 years. He has installed his son-in-law, Toure Roberts, and daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, as co-senior pastors, marking a significant transition for the megachurch.

Earlier this year, Jakes announced his decision to step down following a heart attack during a service in November 2024. He expressed concerns about his health and the need for strong leadership within the church.

Despite stepping down, Jakes will continue to serve as chairman of the T.D. Jakes Foundation, which focuses on community outreach, education, and housing improvement.

Under Jakes’ leadership, the Potter’s House has grown to over 30,000 members and is recognized as one of the largest and most influential churches in the nation. Jakes is also known for his work in film production and publishing through TDJ Enterprises.

The planned transition to his daughter and son-in-law had been in the works for several years, ensuring a seamless leadership change within the church community.
