In a poignant address during the Global Workers’ Conference at the Deeper Life International Conference Centre, Pastor William Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, shared his heart-wrenching experience surrounding the death of his first wife, Abiodun Kumuyi. She passed away on April 11, 2009, after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of faith and resilience.

Pastor Kumuyi recounted how his absence during a church retreat contributed to this tragedy. He expressed deep sorrow, reflecting on how the enemy took advantage of his unavailability. “I was preaching that day, and while I was away, my wife faced a challenge at home. I didn’t realize the spiritual doors that needed to be closed,” he shared.

Despite the overwhelming grief, Kumuyi emphasized a transformative decision he made following her death. Rather than succumbing to despair, he resolved to channel his pain into a renewed commitment to his ministry. He described his mission as a form of “revenge” against the devil, determined to ensure that such a tragedy would not repeat itself in his life or ministry.

Since that fateful day, Pastor Kumuyi has traveled extensively, spreading the gospel and witnessing miraculous events, including healings and even resurrections. He expressed gratitude for the strength he has found through faith, stating, “I have covered most of the local governments in Nigeria and reached nearly every continent, proclaiming that nothing will steal away what God has given.”

Kumuyi’s testimony serves as an inspiring reminder of the power of faith in overcoming loss. His journey reflects the belief that even in the face of unimaginable sorrow, one can find purpose and hope through a commitment to God’s work. As he continues to lead his congregation, Pastor Kumuyi encourages others to embrace their challenges with faith and determination, assuring them that they, too, can rise above adversity.
