Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, previously suspended from the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has officially launched a new ministry called The Family Fellowship in Lagos.

In a video that circulated widely on Monday morning, Iluyomade was seen celebrating with congregants during their inaugural service at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos. The service, held on Sunday, was filled with joyous dancing and celebration.

Announcing the ministry on Instagram, Iluyomade extended a warm invitation to the public: “The Family Fellowship invites you specially. Join us tomorrow at the Civic Centre for a special time in the Lord’s presence. It promises to be a great experience.”

Iluyomade was the senior pastor of the City of David Parish before his suspension in 2024. This decision followed controversy surrounding his wife Pastor Siju’s extravagant 60th birthday celebration, which occurred shortly after the tragic passing of Herbert Wigwe, a significant church member and former CEO of Access Bank, alongside his family in a helicopter crash.

Critics deemed the timing of the celebration insensitive, given Wigwe’s recent death. Following public backlash, the RCCG Governing Council initiated an investigation, resulting in a three-month suspension for the Iluyomades and their reassignment to the church’s headquarters in Ebute Metta. Their suspension gained further scrutiny after they were uninvited from Wigwe’s funeral.

Now, with the establishment of their own ministry, the Iluyomades are set to continue their spiritual journey and mission.
