Mountain Top University Chancellor and General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Dr. Daniel Olukoya, has detailed the university’s initiative to introduce vocational training alongside academic courses. This effort aims to produce well-rounded graduates equipped to tackle societal challenges.

Speaking during the 6th Convocation Ceremony at Prayer City, Olukoya emphasized that MTU’s mission extends beyond merely awarding degrees; it seeks to empower students with practical skills that foster self-sufficiency and enable them to become employers of labor.

He highlighted that vocational training in areas such as bread making, fashion designing, and music instrument learning is essential to the university’s objective of creating “agents of transformation.” Olukoya stated, “Since its inception, MTU has been producing morally sound, academically excellent, and hardworking graduates. We aim to equip them with vocational skills that will complement the degrees they acquire. Our vision is to train graduates who will excel academically and positively contribute to their communities and the world.”

The Chancellor noted that MTU’s approach reflects a broader vision focused on integrity, determination, and societal betterment. He credited the institution’s foundation in the word of God and deliverance prayers for helping mold graduates into individuals capable of influencing lives and impacting destinies.

Olukoya also praised his wife, Pastor (Mrs.) Folashade Olukoya, for her dedication to mentoring students, particularly women, to become better individuals in society. He recognized Prince Alex Mbata for his contributions to societal transformation.

In her address, Pastor (Mrs.) Olukoya reiterated her commitment to mentoring MTU students, emphasizing the importance of preparing young people to become strong leaders and positive role models.

Keynote speaker Dr. Agbu Kefas, Governor of Taraba State, encouraged graduates to discover their purpose and leverage their talents to address societal issues. “Our society needs dynamic young people like you. Embrace every opportunity with the determination to fulfill your greater purpose,” he stated.

The ceremony celebrated 378 graduates, with 50 achieving first-class honors. The Best Graduating Student from the Department of Food Science and Technology, Ms. Oni Itunu-Oluwa, was awarded a N2 million gift from Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for her exceptional 4.98 GPA.

MTU’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Elijah Adebowale Ayolabi, commended the academic excellence of the graduating class and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically accomplished but also equipped with the practical skills necessary to drive positive change in society.
