There has been a shakeup in City of David Parish one of the juicy parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God . The Iluyomades were removed as leaders of the most flourishing RCCG Parish.
Pastor Idowu Iluyomade of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) City of David Parish, Region 20, Victoria Island, Lagos, has been transferred, and Pastor Kayode Pitan has taken over as the new pastor.
The change has been confirmed by Believers’ Voice Nigeria, BVN news.
Pastor Idowu Iluyomade has relocated to the RCCG Throne of Grace in Ebute Metta, Lagos, which serves as the mission’s headquarters.
This transfer was officially confirmed on Sunday, June 2, at the monthly thanksgiving service held in all RCCG branches worldwide.
Notably, Senior RCCG figures such as retired National Overseer Pastor Obayemi, Pastor Johnson Odesola, and Region 9 leader Pastor Pandel were present in City of David to carry out these changes.
The absence of Pastor Idowu Iluyomade and his beautiful wife, Pastor Siju Iluyomade, from the service was unusual, especially on the first Sunday of the month.
According to findings, the thanksgiving service was unusually brief, with Pastor Trevor Akindele, Pastor Iluyomade’s assistant, taking his place.
Following the service, an announcement was made requesting that all pastors, ministers, workers, and elders remain for a meeting, indicating the gravity of the situation.
Pastor Idowu Iluyomade has accepted a position as Pastor-in-Charge of Elders at RCCG Region 1, Ebute Metta.
According to a reliable sources, Pastor Iluyomade is dissatisfied with the transfer, citing his extensive efforts in building the Trinity Towers, a project valued at over 10 billion Naira that is still owed to Access Bank.
Furthermore, Pastor Iluyomade, who is 65 years old, reportedly expressed dissatisfaction that he has not yet reached the retirement age of 70.
The transfer may not have been unconnected Pastor Iluyomade wife Siju Iluyomade’s 60th birthday celebration shortly after the death of former Access Bank Managing Director Mr. Herbert Wigwe, which may have influenced the decision as some opined that there is time and season for everything. A time to celebrate and a time to refrain from celebration.
Wigwe was said to have played a prominent role in raising funds for the City of David’s new complex, the Trinity Towers.
Pastor Iluyomade allegedly advised against the celebration, citing potential repercussions.
However, a reliable source close to RCCG leadership, whose views was sorted by BVN news maintained that pastoral transfers are common practices within the mission, usually occurring after a pastor has served for several years in one location. And that Pastor Iluyomade’s transfer was not a big deal.
